Atlanta Braves Chris Sale threw a complete-game shutout and won 1-0 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
This win completes a three-game sweep of the defending World Series champions at Truist Park.
He gave up five hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out 11 in a season-high 109 pitches, tying his season high.

The Big Number
Sale clocked his 100.1 mph pitch in the third inning, his fastest since July 6, 2018, when he was pitching for a World Series-bound Boston Red Sox team.
Two innings later, he threw 99.6 mph. Both pitches were to Shohei Ohtani, who swung through the second for a strikeout.
“Tit for tat, he’s probably the best I’ve ever faced,” Sale said of facing Ohtani. “When you’re up against the best, you have to bring your best.”
One swing and it was over
The Dodgers’ only run came on the very first pitch of the game that starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw to the plate.
All Atlanta needed was Drake Baldwin’s leadoff home run on a hanging splitter that traveled 402 feet.

And his ERA is now 2.06, second best in the majors behind Jacob Misiorowski. And he’s now gone 21 straight starts without allowing more than three runs.
“You could make a case that he’s as good now as he’s ever been, as great a career as he’s having,” Braves manager Walt Weiss said. Mind-boggling.
The Dodgers were swept for the third time this month, dropping to 80-54. They head to Detroit for a weekend series with Tarik Skubal facing his former team on Friday.
