The Philadelphia Phillies are making a statement at the trade deadline, acquiring All-Star second baseman Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants
The deal also sends right-handed reliever Kaleb Kilian to the Phillies. The Giants get starter Ramon Marquez, the No. 4 prospect for the Phils, and reliever Marty Gair.

Arraez has been one of baseball’s most consistent hitters in 2026. This season, he was an All-Star, batting .324 with four homers and 43 RBIs in 105 games for San Francisco, according to Sports Illustrated
He’s signed to a one-year, $12 million contract and was slated to become a free agent following this season.
The left-handed hitter is a four-time All-Star and three-time batting champion who topped the American League average with the Twins in 2022 and previously led the National League in back-to-back years with the Marlins and Padres.
Arraez has said he intends to continue playing second base in the future.
The trade helps Philadelphia address a lineup that ranks only 23rd in the league in OPS this season, giving manager Don Mattingly a proven bat-to-ball threat as the club attempts for a playoff run.
