The Seattle Mariners are riding high after a big Monday night win, and will try to ride that momentum into game two of their series with the Cincinnati Reds.
Victor Robles went 4-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Seattle Mariners to an 8-0 rout of the Cincinnati Reds in the series opener at T-Mobile Park. Robles set the stage early, singling off Reds starter Andrew Abbott in the fifth, stealing second and coming around to score as the Mariners broke a scoreless tie.

George Kirby was just as good on the mound, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing three hits, striking out six and walking one to improve to 8-8 on the season, per ESPN. Seattle blew the game open in the seventh with six runs, including a grand slam by Cal Raleigh off reliever Caleb Ferguson for a 7-0 lead. Raleigh drove in another run with a ground out in the eighth for the final margin.
The win was Seattle’s third in a row and moved the club into first place in the American League West, a half-game ahead of Texas. It was also a nice follow-up to Julio Rodriguez’s return to the lineup over the weekend after a stay on the concussion list.
Seattle will turn to Luis Castillo in game two on Tuesday night as the Mariners try to extend their series lead. Cincinnati will counter with right-hander Chase Burns as the Reds look to avoid a series-opening skid and return to the win column
