United States President Donald Trump questioned whether LeBron James could be “a racist” when he was asked whether the basketball player is the “best ever” in the game, Yankee Scores reports.
LeBron, aged 41, declared on Friday that he would extend his illustrious career at the Philadelphia 76ers.
Later when Trump was asked about the decision in a White House press conference, he justified his reasoning for why Michael Jordan is the better player.
Michael Jordan is 63 years old and has won six NBA championships and also the NBA MVP five times in the NBA league.
When asked whether Jordan or James was the “best ever”, Trump said: “Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine. I play golf with him. He’s a really good guy.
“I think LeBron is, maybe he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. I only like people that like me, so I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”
James, who hasn’t reacted to Trump’s statement yet, has always criticized Trump in the course of his presidency and supported the Democrats’ Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris against Trump’s candidacy.
In 2017, James called Trump a “bum” after an argument about White House invitations for the winning NBA teams.
James has already become the winner of four NBA championships in the Miami Heat (twice), Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
In addition, James was declared the NBA MVP four times and holds records for being the all-time points scorer and games player in the league.
James will be trying to win the fifth championship title for the 76ers, considering that James announced his transfer to Philadelphia on Friday.
Now the team features the skills of James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown.
