Kawhi Leonard for the Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers finally reached the .500 mark, Yankee Scores reports

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the New York Knicks on Monday night. Kawhi Leonard powered the effort with another standout performance.

Leonard’s streak continues

Leonard scored 29 points, marking his 42nd straight game with at least 20 points. That streak is the second-longest active run in the NBA and the third-longest in franchise history. His consistency has been the driving force behind the Clippers’ recent surge.

Mathurin and Garland shine

Bennedict Mathurin came off the bench to score 28 points, including 22 in the second half. Darius Garland added 23 points and seven assists in his second start, giving Los Angeles multiple scoring options. Five Clippers finished in double figures, underscoring the team’s balanced attack.

Knicks battle back

Karl-Anthony Towns led New York with 35 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists before fouling out in the final seconds. Jalen Brunson added 28 points, while OG Anunoby chipped in 22. The Knicks cut a 15-point deficit to five several times in the fourth quarter, but the Clippers held firm.

Closing moments

Los Angeles sealed the win with clutch plays, including Mathurin’s three-point play and a Derrick Jones Jr. 3-pointer in the final two minutes. The Clippers improved to 32-32, winning five of their first six games in March after starting the season 6-21.

Season implications

The Knicks, third in the Eastern Conference, split the season series with the Clippers but have not won in Los Angeles since 2022. New York has now dropped three of its last four games. For the Clippers, the victory strengthens their push toward the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Up next

The Knicks continue their five-game road trip with a visit to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Clippers will stay home to host the Minnesota Timberwolves, aiming to build on their momentum and climb further above .500.
