NBA Last Two Minute Report Explains Spurs’ Painful Loss to Wolves

Game 1 between the Spurs and Timberwolves was a thriller, but controversy followed soon after. The NBA’s Last Two Minute Report revealed one missed call that added fuel to San Antonio’s frustration in their narrow defeat. Yankee Scores reports.

Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the San Antonio Spurs 104-102 in the Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series on Monday.
Despite Victor Wembanyama having a sensational night defensively with 12 blocks, it was not enough against a Minnesota led by Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle.

The Missed Call

With just over a minute left, Spurs forward Julian Champagnie grabbed a rebound but was knocked down by Julius Randle.

According to the NBA Last Two Minute Report, Randle extended his forearm into Champagnie’s upper body, causing him to fall and touch the baseline. Officials missed the foul, and the violation went uncalled.

Spurs Still Managed to Score

Despite the contact, Champagnie quickly recovered and scored, avoiding what could have been a disastrous turnover. The report confirmed that the play should have resulted in a foul on Randle, but the Spurs gained points anyway. Still, the missed whistle highlighted how razor‑thin the margin was in the 104‑102 loss.

Timberwolves’ Stars Shine

In the absence of Dante DiVincenzo and Ayo Dosunmu, the Minnesota Timberwolves leaned on Julius Randle’s 21 points and Anthony Edwards’ gutsy 18‑point return from injury.

What’s Next

The Spurs now face a must‑win Game 2 to avoid falling into a 2‑0 hole. While the missed call didn’t directly cost them the game, the NBA’s confirmation adds sting to an already painful defeat. For Minnesota, the report changes little, they’ll look to keep momentum rolling in the Western Conference semifinals.
