The 2026/2027 NBA season tips off on the 20th of October with opening night games featuring Boston Celtics vs Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers vs New York Knicks and OKC vs Spurs.
Lots of surprising moves happened during the offseason that has made many teams very exciting to watch in the coming season, but not Golden State Warriors
Warriors have had a very quiet offseason until these past few days where they made a few additions to the roaster and it looks like that will be all
Free agent guard Brandon Williams has agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal to sign with the Golden State Warriors, agents Derek Lafayette and Curtis Lawrence tell ESPN. New additions
Golden State Warriors signed guard Brandon Williams to a one year deal worth $2.6million and veteran forward Georges Niang also to a one year deal worth $3.9million
Both signings are just a year contract which shows this is not a plan for the future but just a quick addition only for the coming season.
So, the big question now is, have the management of the team accepted they can no longer challenge for the title and have settled for being a play-in team
Brandon Williams played with the Dallas Maverick last season as a backup guard, averaging points 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds across 66 games
He shot 47.2% from field and 23.2% from the three point line
Georges Niang on the other missed the entire 2025/2026 season due to left foot injury but before then he averaged 10 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assist in the 24/25 season with Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers
It’s evident these players are not going to be starters but backups for the Warriors in the coming season

How Warriors will lineup next season
Based on everything that has happened from last season till this moment, it’s safe to project that the Warriors starting 5 next season would be;
Stephen Curry at Point Guard, Brandin Podziemaki at Shooting Guard, the rookie Yaxel Lenderborg at small forward, Draymond Green at the Power Forward and Kristaps Porzingis at center
Jimmy Butler is currently injured and might not return until January or February, making Yaxel the front runner for the small forward position
Porzingis being fit would also play a very important role if the Warriors would hope to have a shot at the playoffs
With the current lineup and expected performance, it would be difficult for the Warriors to make it to the playoffs due to the strength of other teams right now
The team finished with a 37-45 record last season and were the only team to go into the Play-In with a negative W-L record
But the issue now is that there hasn’t been any significant improvement so far to the roaster and the results this season might just be the same
Another question yet to be answered is if the 23 year old rookie Yaxel Lenderborg can perform at a superstar level but that’s a lot to ask from a youngster just entering the league
