With the Spurs and Thunder heading to a wild Game 7 on Saturday, New York’s depth is about to be tested like never before, Yankee Scores reports…
New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson has broken his right pinkie finger prior to the NBA Finals.
At the moment there is no estimated timeline for his recovery.
Big Blow for Knicks
Thursday saw the resumption of Knicks practice, having won their last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in a four-game sweep to reach the NBA Finals, the first for New York since 1999.
The Knicks were clearly superior right from the start against the Cavs in Game 4, building a double-digit lead through one quarter.
The Knicks made 56% of their shots, knocking down six triples and beating Cleveland Cavaliers in transition to score easy baskets around the rim.
By halftime, the game was over. New York scored the game’s first 20 points to put it out of reach and followed it with another 23-6 run to extend their advantage to 25 at halftime.
Robinson’s Numbers
Robinson, in his team’s last game of this postseason, recorded 18 minutes played, scoring eight points with 10 rebounds.
The team’s upcoming opponent in the NBA Finals would be the winner between the Western Conference finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
The NBA finals begin on Wednesday June 3rd.
In the regular season, Robinson recorded an average of 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes.
During his playoff run, Robinson recorded an average of 5.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 14.2 minutes of play as a bench player, serving as a possible substitute for big-man Karl-Anthony Towns, should he be in early foul trouble.
Offensively, the 7-foot player draws fouls against his opponents, partially owing to his poor performance from the free-throw line (13 out of 43 throws, 30.2%).
