Portland Trail Blazers‘ guard Shaedon Sharpe has suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee and will be out for six months.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury while working out in the off-season and will be out of action for much of the 2026-27 season, according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania on Monday.

Shaedon Sharpe hit an average of 20.8 points per game for the Blazers in the last season but had missed a sizable portion of it due to a stress fracture in his left fibula.
How Portland Adjusts to Sharpe’s Absence
The Blazers start next season with veteran guards on their team in Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, and Jrue Holiday, who will help cover any shortage of players in the absence of Shaedon Sharpe.
The guard signed a four-year, $90 million contract extension with Portland in the last year and is set to earn around $20 million in the 2026-27 season.
Professional career
The 2022 NBA Draft saw Sharpe being chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers with the seventh pick overall. He and another Canadian, Bennedict Mathurin, the 6th pick overall in the same draft, were the only Canadians chosen in the first round of that year’s draft.
He signed a rookie scale contract with the Trail Blazers on July 1, 2022. On July 8, during his NBA Summer League debut game, Sharpe got hurt in his left shoulder within under six minutes of play, having sustained a small labral tear.
