English fighter, Conor Benn is anticipating his mouthwatering WBC welterweight title clash with belt holder, Ryan Garcia in the USA.
The British fighter square up against the American at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, September 12 in Las Vegas.
The fight marks Benn defeated former champion, Regis Prograis in April to have a shot at the title deciding fight while Garcia is set to defend the belt he won against Mario Barrios in February 2026.
Benn believes his consistency in training and success in the ring brought him to the level of a title fight against a favorite opponent.
He said, be won’t be carried away by his recent achievement but rather give his best approach to training as he has always done to either a high or low rank opponent.
“I prepare diligently for everybody. The Regis fight, if I hadn’t worked hard and took the fight seriously, it would have not allowed the Garcia fight to take place,” he said.
“Every fight in my career. A big name, not a name, a puncher, not a puncher, winning record, losing record, I still prepare the same, diligently for everybody.”
Benn hailed Garcia and expects him to be at his best but he won’t be dettered by the status of his opponent as he wears the underdog mentality with pride.
The pugilist understands the features of his opponent which he trusts will further motivate him to be at his best in the bout.
“I’m expecting the best version of Ryan. He’s got the champion mentality and he’s going to defend his belt with his life. I’m going in there with an underdog mentality as I do with every fight.
“He’s a great fighter. He’s got fast hands and he’s the champion. I go in there with nothing but respect to him. He’s a good fighter. When you’re up against the champion you’re challenging yourself against the best.”
The 29 year old Benn holds a personal record of 25 wins, one loss and 14 knockouts in 26 fights.
