Carolina shocked T-Mobile Arena on Sunday night by shutting out the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6. This win gave the franchise its second Stanley Cup title and its first since 2006, Yankee Scores reports.
The Hurricanes finished the playoffs with an impressive 16-3 record, the fewest games needed to win a Cup since the 1988 Edmonton Oilers went 16-2.
Taylor Hall set the tone early, scoring a breakaway goal just 3:47 into the first period. Jackson Blake added to the lead with a goal and an assist, while Nikolaj Ehlers closed the game with an empty-net goal in the third.

Goaltender Brandon Bussi was perfect in net, stopping all 22 shots he faced for his first career playoff shutout.
According to ESPN, captain Jordan Staal won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs. At 37, he became the oldest recipient in NHL history. Staal scored in each of the first five games of the Final, finishing the series with six goals and tying an NHL record for consecutive goal-scoring games in a Stanley Cup Final.
Staal, who won his first Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009, became the first player to wait at least 17 years between championships.
Coach Rod Brind’Amour, a two-time Cup winner with Carolina as both captain and head coach, is now just the fourth person in NHL history to lift the trophy in both roles.
A championship parade is set for Saturday, June 20 in Downtown Raleigh.
