Kimi Antonelli’s rise in Formula 1 continues to captivate. The 19‑year‑old Mercedes driver claimed the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, securing his third straight win and etching his name into the record books. Yankee Scores reports.
A Historic Start
Antonelli became the first driver in F1 history to win his first three races from pole position. With another flawless drive, he extended his championship lead to 20 points over teammate George Russell.
“It is just the beginning, the road is still long, but we’re working super hard,” Antonelli said. “I’m going to enjoy this one and then get back to work.”
The Italian Rookie and teammate George Russell were blocked from having their third 1-2 podium finish this season.
Chaos in Miami
The race began under damp conditions at the Miami International Autodrome. Lightning strikes and threats of heavy rain led F1 to move up the race by three hours.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc surged ahead when Antonelli went wide, while Max Verstappen spun after contact and fell to ninth. Antonelli quickly recovered, reclaiming the lead by Lap 5 and later outdueling Lando Norris in the pits to secure victory.
Rivals Respond
Norris finished second, 3.2 seconds behind Antonelli, while Oscar Piastri passed Leclerc on the final lap to claim third. Russell placed fourth, and Verstappen salvaged fifth for Red Bull.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff praised his young star: “Kimi, that was very, very impressive… there was nothing to complain about today.”
Looking Ahead
Antonelli’s dominance has Mercedes unbeaten in four races this season, with both poles and wins split between him and Russell. The Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is next, where Antonelli will look to extend his remarkable streak and strengthen his case as a championship contender.
