Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was cited for speeding after being clocked at 94 mph in a 70 mph zone last month in Northeast Ohio. According to court records obtained by ESPN, the incident occurred on February 21 at 1:35 a.m. in Wooster. Garrett received a court date but can avoid appearing if he pays the fine.

Pattern of Traffic Violations

This latest citation marks Garrett’s ninth speeding ticket since 2017, continuing a troubling pattern of traffic violations. Just last August, he was ticketed for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone in a Cleveland suburb.

Previous Crash in 2022

Garrett’s driving history also includes a single-car crash in 2022. He was cited for “failure to control his motor vehicle” after his car veered off the road and flipped. The crash left him with a shoulder sprain and biceps strain. Investigators reported he was traveling 65 mph in a 45 mph zone, an unsafe speed for the roadway.

Browns Star’s On-Field Success

Despite his off-field issues, Garrett remains one of the NFL’s most dominant defenders. He earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2025 and continues to anchor Cleveland’s defense. His performance has made him a cornerstone of the franchise, even as his driving record raises concerns.

What’s Next

Garrett’s latest citation adds to a growing list of traffic violations. While he can settle the fine without appearing in court, the repeated incidents highlight an ongoing issue. The Browns will hope their star defender can avoid further distractions as they prepare for the upcoming season.
