The New York Jets spent big money this offseason to make sure everyone knows who’s carrying the ball.
Running back Breece Hall is coming off his best season of his career and signed a three-year extension worth $45.75 million, per ESPN’s Ian Rapoport, that makes him one of the highest-paid running backs in football.
After ranking 30th in offensive efficiency last season according to ESPN Analytics, the Jets look to get their offense back on track with Geno Smith and Breece Hall.

This can only mean New York is building its offense around him.
Last season, Hall rushed for 1,065 yards, the first time in his career that he has topped the 1,000-yard mark and he did it with defenses loading the box against him nearly every game.
Only Derrick Henry and De’Von Achane had worse run-blocking situations in the league.
Now the pieces around him seem different. The Jets signed quarterback Geno Smith and drafted new players, including tight end Kenyon Sadiq and receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
A better passing game should mean less defenders crowding the line of scrimmage, which could open things up even more for Hall on the ground and through the air.
The Jets are betting on their run-first workhorse to be the engine that turns things around after a rough 3-14 season in 2025.
