De Zerbi Could Start Spurs Era in Relegation Zone, Here Is Why

Roberto De Zerbi’s Premier League debut as Tottenham coach comes with extraordinary tension. By the time the Spurs kick off, they could already be sitting in the relegation zone for the first time in 18 years. Yankee Scores reports.

Spurs on the Brink

Tottenham currently sit just above the drop zone, with survival hanging by a thread. If West Ham defeats Wolves this evening, Spurs will fall into the bottom three, a symbolic low point for a club that reached the Champions League final in 2019.

Historical Context

Spurs have never been relegated from the Premier League since its creation in 1992. Their last relegation from the old First Division came in 1976–77, when they finished bottom but bounced back immediately the following season. Earlier relegations in 1928–29 and 1934–35 remind fans that Tottenham have endured tough times before, though modern supporters are unaccustomed to such struggles.

Nuno’s Role in the Drama

Adding irony, West Ham are now coached by Nuno Espírito Santo, a former Spurs manager. His team’s success against Wolves could indirectly push Tottenham into the relegation zone, overshadowing De Zerbi’s first game in charge.

De Zerbi’s First Test

For De Zerbi, the stakes could hardly be higher. Known for his attacking philosophy, the Italian tactician faces the possibility of beginning his Spurs campaign under the shadow of relegation. The pressure from fans and media will be immediate if results don’t turn quickly.

Looking Ahead

All eyes will be on tonight’s clash at Molineux. Should West Ham prevail, Tottenham’s fight for survival will dominate the Premier League headlines, turning De Zerbi’s debut into one of the most dramatic opening chapters in recent memory.
