Egyptian football expert Mohamed Mustafa has delivered a highly calculated, realistic assessment of the Pharaohs’ prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Yankee Scores reports.
Mustafa believes the Pharaohs of Egypt can hold their own against their opponents in Group G but unsure of their progression from the knockout stages.
Egypt will face Belgium in their Group G match of the FIFA World Cup at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington on Monday June 15th at 12 PM (PDT). A win against the Red Devils of Belgium would provide the North African side with a boost in morale and momentum.
Egypt are in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran and New Zealand.
“I believe the Egyptian national team is capable of qualifying from the group stage. Although it won’t be easy, the Egyptian team will at least secure 4 points and qualify as the second-place team in the group”.
Mustafa is not confident in his side’s ability to progress to round of 16 should they face a big side.
“The situation will be slightly different in the round of 32. If we face a strong team, which is highly likely, we will be eliminated from the World Cup”.
The Pharaohs who drew Spain in March friendly rounded off their World Cup preparations with a 2-1 loss to Brazil at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland on Saturday.
Yahoo Sports reported that the friendly drew a great crowd: 64,311 in attendance.
