Inter Miami has officially released the diagnosis on Lionel Messi after he subbed out of Sunday’s wild 6-4 win over Philly, Yankee Scores reports…
Miami confirmed that Lionel Messi suffered from muscle fatigue in his left hamstring.
The game ended in a historic 6-4 thriller in favor of Miami and Messi was subbed off in the 73rd minute.
The Official Diagnosis
“After undergoing further medical tests this Monday, the initial diagnosis indicates an overload associated with muscle fatigue in his left hamstring,” according to Inter Miami news release.
“The timeline for his return to physical activity will depend on his clinical and functional progress.”
The Argentine left the pitch in the 73rd minute to the dressing room, holding his left thigh.
Messi felt some discomfort in the upper part of his left thigh in the 70th minute after taking a free-kick. He requested to be replaced and Mateo Silvetti was subbed on.
Messi walked off on his own.
“As far as I know, we don’t have a report on that yet, but he really was fatigued. It was fatigue,” Miami coach Guillermo Hoyos said after the game. “Yes, it was fatigue. He was tired, the field was heavy, and rather than doubt, you always say not to take the risk.”
A Historic Ten-Goal Classic
Philadelphia opened the game in a good way by scoring two goals in the first ten minutes thanks to Milan Iloski – one from open play and the other from the spot kick.
Germán Berterame halved the deficit after converting Messi’s teasing cross.
Philadelphia restored a two-goal cushion through Bruno Damiani. Suarez made it 3-2 for Miami, then Berterame completed his brace, levelling at 3-3. Suárez put Miami into a 4-3 lead a minute to the end of the first interval.
Iloski completed his hat trick with an equalizer at 4-4. Miami roared back as Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul secured the maximum points for Hoyo’s men.
