Manchester City have sent their first bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, but the two sides are still far apart on valuation, Yankee Scores reports….
Man City gets shut down
The 23-year-old was Manchester City’s number one summer target and the club had made an official offer for him.But Forest had no time to waste and sent it straight back
The offer was rejected, but City are likely to come back with a better financial offer.
It’s the first of what promises to be one of the summer’s biggest transfer tussle as multiple clubs are lining up
The two clubs are £40 Million apart
The two clubs still have a difference in valuation regarding Anderson. City’s first bid was in the region of £80m, but Forest are hoping for a fee of around £120m.
The standard of the best Premier League midfielders has increased significantly over the last few years, with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández and Declan Rice all fetching over £100 million.
Why Maresca and Viana are so keen.
Incoming City manager Enzo Maresca and Sporting Director Hugo Viana see the midfielder as the perfect man to rejuvenate City’s midfield.
Anderson has been one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League over the past two seasons, having signed for Forest from Newcastle on a £35million deal in the summer of 2024.
The move has worked out well for him and both Manchester sides have been impressed.
United Lurking
City may be in pole position but they are not alone in this race.
City are thought to be in pole position to sign Anderson this summer but face competition from a number of big clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United.
United have shown interest, but other midfielders have been considered more viable targets for them and City are considered to be in a stronger financial position to meet Forest’s demands.
United have already signed Ederson from Atalanta this window and are still looking to bring in one more midfielder.
What Happens Next
City will be bringing back a better financial offer and with Maresca’s blueprint for the squad now in place, Anderson is still high on the list.
The big question in this saga is whether Forest will remain adamant after a second offer, especially if Anderson is able to light up the World Cup.
