Liverpool have reached an agreement worth up to £123 million pounds to sign Paris St-Germain striker Bradley Barcola.
The French side initially valued the player at £145 million but Liverpool have agreed a fee of £106 million with £17 million in bonuses.
Barcola is expected to have a medical this weekend before signing a long-term deal with the club.
Barcola is predominantly a right-footed player that prefers playing as a left-sided attacker and his imminent arrival is likely to raise questions over Cody Gakpo‘s future at Liverpool.
Various sources have told BBC Sport that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have also expressed interest in signing the Dutch international forward.
Liverpool are in need of a right-sided winger after they tried to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton and Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace.
Barcola has emerged as one of the main targets of Liverpool in their efforts to strengthen their attack following the exits of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah in the last two years.
He joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 in a £38.5 million pounds deal and has won three consecutive Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League titles, French cup twice, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
The 23-year-old Barcola netted three goals for France in the last World Cup in North America.
The French forward can also play on the right or as a center-forward and his arrival could be useful to cover for Alexander Isak while Hugo Ekitike is recovering from his Achilles tendon injury.
Iraola Uncertain of Gakpo’s Future
Speaking ahead of Matchday 2 clash against Nottingham Forest, Reds boss Andoni Iraola said he cannot guanrantee Cody Gakpo’s future but would like to keep the 27-year-old at the club.
“[Gakpo] has been very good since he came back from the World Cup and his holiday, with a very good attitude. I hope we can keep him at that level because I think he has been very influential in our games,” Iraola he said.
