Chelsea are open to selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City if the price is right despite the Blues missing the deadline set for the deal in August.
The two clubs have not made any official approaches towards one another concerning Fernandez, who did not play on Thursday evening in the Carabao Cup victory against Luton, per Skysports.
Xabi Alonso, Chelsea manager, described Fernandez as a good professional player who trains hard, adding that it will be decided closer to the game whether the player will take part in Sunday’s match against Brighton.
The interest of the club is not lost despite City missing Chelsea’s deadline for a bid on Fernandez which took place in early August.
The deadline was set because Chelsea and Fernandez’ agent have agreed that the Argentine player could be sold for £120m, however, there was no such bid.
Chelsea and City in search for Central Midfielders
Among the players the Blues are looking to sign as central midfielders are Alex Scott from Bournemouth and Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. Both of the clubs believe that those players are unsellable.
Besides Scott, City’s target is Manu Kone from Roma.
The priority for Man City has become the reinforcement of the central midfield department even more following the recent departure of Rodri from the club to Barcelona.
Recently, Nico Gonzalez has left for Newcastle and Tijjani Reijnders has left for Al Qadsiah. Bernardo Silva left the Citizens for Real Madrid after the expiry of his contract.
This week, City completed the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, the deal being worth £86m, thus setting a world record for a teenage player.
