In her typical style, featuring her hallmark footwork and quickness as well as her signature pressure fighting skills, Taylor made sure her last performance was nothing short of stylish as she won via scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 98-91.
In the build-up, promoter Eddie Hearn described Katie Taylor as “Ireland’s greatest sportsperson” and after her win, she made sure to wave to her adoring fans and take one last lap of the ring before leaving her gloves and belts in the middle of it.
The Irish boxing legend who was an Olympic champion, two-time world champion and pioneer of women’s professional boxing finally received the fairy tale finish to her glorious career at her dream venue after nearly 25 years
She leaves with an impressive record of 26 victories against a sole defeat; however, the night had more to offer besides that final tally.
The night was full of Irish pride, excitement, and a spine-tingling atmosphere that was further heightened by the presence of the pop sensation group “Westlife.”
