The boxing world is agog following reports that the much-talked-about proposed boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has finally gotten a date.
AJ and the Gypsy King have made headlines for more than three years, and now it seems the wait is over, with both boxers set for a showdown in December 2026.
According to The Athletic, representatives of both British boxers have been working to stage the bout at Wales’ 73,931-capacity national stadium, with a likely date of December 11.
Boxing powerbroker Turki Al-Sheikh has confirmed the venue for the blockbuster match-up slated for December 11.
Al-Sheikh added that he expects the bout to be one of the greatest in boxing history.
He said:
“Two of the best heavyweights of this generation, finally in the ring together. This will be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. I am very happy to make this fight happen for the fans.”
Earlier this year, AJ and Fury had signed contract that would see them take on each other, but the date and venue were not confirmed.
According to the BBC, both boxers will meet at press conference in London on September 30, as part of the build up to the main event.
Many had touted London’s Wembley Stadium or the Madison Square Garden in New York to host the bout, but there were problems settling with the venue before Cardiff’s Principality Stadium venue eventually emerged.

Anthony Joshua has always maintained that he wants his fight against Tyson Fury in the UK and now he has got his wish. His promoted Eddie Hearn thanked fans in the UK for their support all through the years.
“Forever indebted to the UK public for their support of Anthony Joshua. We couldn’t have got this over the line without you.”
Also among the promoters of the Joshua vs Fury fight is UFC chief Dana White who admitted that this has been the most -anticipated bout. White said:
“For more than a decade, boxing fans have been clamouring for the heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
“Together, they bring 66 wins, 52 knockouts and multiple heavyweight world titles into the ring.
“On December 11, two of the biggest heavyweights of this generation finally collide – and the winner will take a significant place in heavyweight history.”
