Amanda Serrano managed to retain her WBA and WBO featherweight belts with a close majority decision over Argentina’s Lucrecia Manzur in the first world title bout to be broadcast on TikTok.
The Puerto Rican struggled to secure her 50th win in her career as she managed only a majority decision with a miss of the 33rd knockout that she required to become the new women’s record holder in knockouts, with her still having 32.

Serrano’s fight which took place in 12 two-minute rounds did not deliver her with a record-breaking knockout, but it attracted three million views on TikTok, per BBC Sport.
Milestone Victory
The 37-year-old remains to be one of the most watched female boxers in the world, with her third fight against Irish fighter Katie Taylor last year attracting an audience of six million on Netflix and the rematch in 2024 getting more than 50 million on the same platform.

The fight in Temeculam, California saw Serrano get a score of 114-114, 116-112 and 116-112 against Manzur.
While Serrano started strong, Manzur had her troubles with multiple right hands but the Argentine fighter got tired as Serrano took the initiative from the ninth round and dominated the fight till the end.
A Digital Benchmark
Addressing the media following the bout, Serrano stated, “I am so happy and honored. This is the first championship main event on TikTok guys, super excited, super honored.”
About Manzur, Serrano stated, “I knew this girl was tough. She’s young. She’s 27. She’s 10 years younger than me. These girls are getting younger and stronger.
“She was hungry, and I knew that going in to training. I trained very hard because I knew that she would have an opportunity so I had to come with my A game.”
Serrano now hopes to beat Christy Martin with her 33rd knockout in her final fight which is expected to take place later this year or early next year in Puerto Rico.
Martin was present in the ringside and said, “No matter what, I’m always in Serrano’s corner.”
The unified champion’s record now reads 50 wins, four defeats and one draw, while Manzur’s record falls to five defeats in 19 bouts.
