Caleb Williams Bids Emotional Farewell to DJ Moore After Bears Trade
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams found a heartfelt way to say goodbye to wide receiver DJ Moore, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. The move ends their two-year partnership, one that produced 1,648 yards and 12 touchdowns together.
Bears Trade DJ Moore to Bills
The Bears sent Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick to Buffalo in exchange for a second-rounder, while also freeing up $16.5 million in cap space. The Bills, meanwhile, gave quarterback Josh Allen the top target he’s been missing since Stefon Diggs departed. Chicago will now lean on young receivers Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze to step into bigger roles.
Williams Uses Song to Say Goodbye
Williams marked the moment with a highlight reel on Instagram, pairing clips of his best passes to Moore with the song “End of the Beginning” by Djo, the stage name of Stranger Things actor Joe Keery. The lyrics underscored the emotion of the farewell:
“You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man… Oh, I wave goodbye to the end of beginning. Goodbye, goodbye.”
The gesture showed just how much Moore meant to Williams during his breakout campaign.
Moore’s Legacy in Chicago
Moore was clutch in the Bears’ 2025 playoff run, catching the game-winning touchdown in a 31-27 wild card victory over the Packers and scoring again in a narrow divisional loss to the Rams. His impact was undeniable, and his departure leaves a void in the Bears’ offense.
Moore’s Own Goodbye
Moore also shared an emotional Instagram post: “I Wanna Say Appreciate all the love and support the last three years… To the fans, you all embraced me with open arms from my first day here. I gave my all every time I stepped on the field and hopefully I made you all proud.”
Several teammates, including Rome Odunze, responded with love in the comments. At 29, Moore now joins his third NFL team, poised to help Buffalo contend for a Super Bowl alongside Allen.
