Arsenal fans had plenty to cheer as the Gunners delivered a commanding European performance that sets up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash… Yankee Scores reports.

Mikel Arteta’s side produced a confident display to secure their Champions League quarter-final spot, defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 at the Emirates. Goals from Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice ensured Arsenal progressed after last week’s 1-1 draw in Germany.

Leverkusen goalkeeper Janis Blaswich kept his side in the contest early on, denying Gabriel twice from corners. Yet he was powerless when Eze, making his mark in Europe, controlled on the edge of the box and rifled a stunning strike into the top corner.

Rice seals the tie

After the break, Arsenal maintained their intensity. Declan Rice capitalised on a poor clearance, calmly slotting into the bottom corner to double the lead and effectively end the tie. Speaking afterwards, Arteta praised his midfield star: “Declan has that composure in big moments, and tonight he showed it again.”

With the result secure, Arteta rotated his squad, resting key players ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final against Manchester City at Wembley.

Sporting await after dramatic comeback

Arsenal’s reward is a quarter-final meeting with Sporting Lisbon, who staged a remarkable turnaround against Bodo/Glimt. The Portuguese side overturned a three-goal deficit before kick-off, eventually running out 5-3 winners on aggregate.

Arteta acknowledged the challenge ahead: “Sporting are a dangerous side. Their comeback shows the resilience they have, so we must be ready.”

Focus shifts to Wembley

The Gunners now turn their attention to domestic matters, with silverware on the line this weekend. Confidence will be high after this European triumph, but Arteta knows Manchester City will provide a stern test.

Arsenal’s Champions League journey continues, and with momentum building, fans will believe this could be the season their team makes a deep run in Europe.
