The Atlanta Falcons have had a lot on their minds lately, and that includes an extension for Kyle Pitts. Pitts will play on the franchise tag in 2026 before an extension is worked out. Yankee Scores reports

However, with a Kevin Stefanski-style offense that uses the tight end position to great effect, no stone is being left unturned at the tight end position. While the Atlanta Falcons are still in draft mode, they are also taking a closer look at some of the more interesting tight ends available in the 2026 NFL Draft. And, according to CBS Sports’ Shanna McCarriston, they have set up a top 30 visit with one of the best tight ends available in the draft, Marlin Klein of Michigan.

Kyle Pitts Permutation

While Kyle Pitts is probably going to be an Atlanta Falcon for the long haul, even if that were the case, Kevin Stefanski and Ian Cunningham would still be looking at the tight end position. After all, they are going to use two tight ends in the game, and Austin Hooper is no second option on the depth chart. While Klein is no name, the German tight end does have some Day 3 value.

While the numbers are not spectacular, the 23-year-old was an important part of an offense that averaged over 200 rushing yards per game in 2025. The former three-star recruit was part of the Wolverines’ 2023 national championship team, but much of his college career was spent behind Colston Loveland. Nevertheless, it was only after Loveland left the college game to play in the NFL that Klein was able to make an important contribution to the Wolverines’ game plan.

Klein Prowess

In 2025, Klein caught 24 passes for 248 yards, finishing as the team’s third-leading receiver in a passing offense that struggled with true freshman Bryce Underwood as quarterback. However, the numbers might be somewhat misleading, especially when compared to the offense’s performance with J.J. McCarthy as quarterback.

While Klein is not an exciting prospect, the 6-foot-6, 248-pound wideout is worth drafting on Day 3 because of his potential to help the Atlanta Falcons become more physical as a run-blocking offense. While his 40-yard dash time is 4.61 and his 10-yard split is 1.64, Klein is not the kind of prospect that would be drafted because of his potential as a vertical threat.
