After a week of clay-court dominance, the ATP world rankings are set for a seismic shift in Monte Carlo Masters final on Sunday. Yankee Scores reports.

Defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz will face Jannik Sinner in the Monte Carlo Masters final.

The winner will clinch the top spot in the world rankings.

A Duel for the Crown

On Saturday, both progressed via victories in straight sets, with Sinner edging past third-seed Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4 and Alcaraz dispatching hometown hope Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-4.

In addition to being the No. 2 seed and world No. 2 at the Monte Carlo Masters, Sinner becomes the first man since Novak Djokovic in 2015 to make the opening three Masters 1000 finals in the same season after triumphing at Indian Wells and Miami.

Sinner Talks Tough

The 24-year-old continues his unbeaten run in the Masters 1000 series at 21 matches and dominated the clash against Zverev, breaking him four times without giving up a break point in an 82-minute contest.

“I’m very happy. We came here trying to give myself some feedback [on clay] and now finding myself in the final means a lot to me,” said Sinner, who completed his eighth straight tour-level victory against Zverev.

“When you are a break up straight away, it changes the dynamic of the match. I have nothing to lose. Coming here and making the final means a lot to me. I will try to push as much as I can tomorrow on the last day,”

Alcaraz Defends the Fortress

TheWorld No. 1, Alcaraz boasts an overall record of 10-6 against Sinner.

The Spaniard, seeded No. 1, progressed to the final in 84 minutes. He broke the serve of Vacherot thrice out of four times and became the first player from Monaco to progress to the semi-finals at Monte Carlo.

“I think it’s the dream spot for everyone I would say. I’m fighting for a second Monte Carlo title, he’s fighting for his first one,” said Alcaraz. He looks to seal his third title of the 2026 season on Sunday.

“The number one is on the line, which will make tomorrow even more special.

“I’m just happy to win this really difficult match against Valentin. He’s playing great tennis with a lot of confidence right now, playing in his home town. It was really tough to get the win, but I’m really excited about my first meeting with Jannik in 2026.”
