Joel Embiid

Philadelphia’s season lives on. Joel Embiid delivered a dominant performance to push the 76ers past the Celtics in a Game 7 thriller, completing one of the rarest comebacks in NBA history. Yankee Scores reports.

Philadelphia 76ers advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals, defeating the Tatum-less Boston Celtics 109-100 on Saturday night to complete the NBA’s 14th comeback from a 3-1 deficit.

Embiid’s Historic Night

Embiid finished with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, becoming the first player ever to score 100 points in a playoff series despite missing the first three games. His presence shifted the tenor of the matchup, with Boston’s Jaylen Brown admitting, “We didn’t really have the answers for him.”

Maxey Shines Alongside the Star

Tyrese Maxey added 30 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, forming a historic duo with Embiid. Together, they became just the third pair in league history to each record 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a Game 7. VJ Edgecombe chipped in 23 points, while Paul George added 13.

Celtics Falter Without Tatum

Boston entered the night without Jayson Tatum, ruled out shortly before tipoff with knee stiffness. Brown led the Celtics with 33 points, while Derrick White scored 26, but the team struggled from deep, hitting only 13 of 49 threes. Coach Joe Mazzulla defended the shot selection, saying, “I love the looks that we got. I love the process… but I hate the result.”

Revenge and a New Challenge

The win marked Philadelphia’s second road Game 7 victory in franchise history, a measure of redemption after Boston eliminated them in 2023. The 76ers, seeded seventh, now advance to face the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals, with Game 1 set for Monday night.
