The Indianapolis 500 will begin with a familiar voice as Grammy‑nominated singer Jordin Sparks returns to perform the national anthem. Yankee Scores reports.
Race organizers confirmed Thursday that Sparks will headline the pre‑race ceremonies for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” on May 24.
Sparks’ Return to Indy
This marks Sparks’ third time singing the anthem at the Indy 500, following performances in 2015 and 2024. Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles praised her impact, saying, “Jordin knows how important the national anthem performance is to the pre‑race ceremonies of the Indianapolis 500, and we have been moved by her two previous renditions.” He added that this year’s performance will be especially meaningful as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday.
A Historic Stage
Reserved seats for the race have already sold out, with general admission tickets still available. The event typically draws more than 350,000 fans, making it the largest single‑day spectator sporting event in the world. Sparks will sing before a packed grandstand estimated at 275,000, setting the tone for another unforgettable edition of the Indy 500.

Sparks’ Career Highlights
Sparks rose to fame as the youngest winner of American Idol in 2007 and has since sold more than 10 million digital tracks in the U.S. She co‑wrote Ariana Grande’s hit single “The Way” and has toured with icons like Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, and The Jonas Brothers. Her accolades include two BET Awards, an American Music Award, and a People’s Choice Award, along with two Grammy nominations. Beyond music, Sparks has starred on Broadway and made her film debut in Sparkle alongside Whitney Houston.
Anticipation Builds
With Sparks’ powerful voice opening the ceremonies and the race marking a milestone in American history, fans can expect a stirring start to the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500. The anthem performance will set the stage for the roar of engines and the chase for racing glory.
