Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray’s prolific centre-forward, as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape his attacking line-up.
Spurs have already made an opening approach in the £50-55 million range, but Galatasaray are holding out for closer to £65 million — a figure that looks ambitious given how central Osimhen is to the Turkish champions’ plans and how long he still has left on his contract.
The move makes sense on paper. Richarlison’s long-term future at the club remains unresolved, and Dominic Solanke, for all his effort, hasn’t fully answered Tottenham’s questions in front of goal. A sharp, physical number nine like Osimhen would give De Zerbi exactly the kind of focal point his possession-based system is built around.
According to sources close to the player’s camp who spoke to CaughtOffside, Tottenham’s hierarchy has now given the green light to pursue formal talks, and there’s a belief within the club that agreeing personal terms wouldn’t be the sticking point — it’s the fee that will decide things.
It’s easy to see why De Zerbi rates him so highly. Osimhen scored 41 goals and added 10 assists in 52 appearances for Galatasaray last season — the kind of numbers that have Nigeria boss Éric Chelle calling him the best striker in the world.
For now, though, this is still very much at the exploratory stage. No formal approach has been made to Galatasaray, and no direct contact has taken place between the two clubs. Tottenham have also spent heavily already this window, and finding another nine-figure sum without offloading players first won’t be straightforward.
