Frank Warren is set to announce the next fight for Tyson Fury. He also confirms a top 10 heavyweight opponent for Moses Ituama, Yankee Scores reports.
According to reports, Tyson Fury’s next opponent will be announced this week.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Frank Warren confirmed that Tyson Fury would fight before facing Anthony Joshua after the former champion defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.
“We’ll hopefully be in a position to announce it next week, that’s what we’re looking to do,” said Warren on Sunday.
“So keep watching this space, and it’ll be a good opponent – it’ll be good for him. He can’t afford to slip up, because obviously AJ’s got his fight in a few weeks’ time.”
He also confirmed a top 10 ranked opponent is set for heavyweight Moses Itauma.
“Moses [Itauma] is fighting up in Manchester, we’re going to announce it.
“He’s fighting a top 10 heavyweight, we expect to get the fight we want to make over the line. Again, a great heavyweight fight.”
Reflection on Oleksander Usyk’s fight
Frank Warren spoke about the 11th round stoppage victory of Oleksander Usyk over Rico Verhoeven, saying the bout was similar to the Fury vs Francis Ngannou’s bout.
“The fact is, with these [mulit-sport] guys, you’ve got no form to study. It’s not like you’ve seen them in a [boxing] fight.
“When Ngannou fought Tyson, he hadn’t been a professional boxing match.
“I look at Ngannou and Rico, they were champions of their respective sports, which means they were the best, means that they’re competitive, they’re strong, they’re winners, and they were there for a while.
“So you knew that they wouldn’t be lacking in heart. It was just about the ability and knocking down, and with Tyson, [Ngannou] did extremely well. He had Tyson on the floor, he clipped him, and I thought, with Rico, he hurt him a couple of times. He was catching him.”
