The 7-foot center injured his fifth metacarpal bone in his right hand and practiced shooting and dribbling light drills at the NBA Finals media day open practice Tuesday.
Coach of the New York Knicks, Mike Brown, refused to say whether Robinson would suit up for Game 1 ahead of the match slated for Wednesday at Frost Bank Center. “He did some individual stuff [Monday],” Brown said. “I’m about to talk to our medical people to see what he can do [Tuesday].”
Injury Cause Unknown
At the team’s open practice Tuesday, Robinson was seen wearing a black wrap around his shooting hand and wrist.
It was not clear when Robinson was injured, and he has not commented publicly about how he got hurt or when he received his injury. According to Shams Charania, Robinson got broke his finger at home prior to the start of New York’s first NBA Finals since 1999.
Robinson Stats
The 28-year-old Robinson has started 13 out of New York’s 14 playoff matches this season, producing averages of 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 14.2 minutes played as a reserve.
Robinson made huge contributions to New York’s title in the NBA Cup against the Spurs featuring Victor Wembanyama in December, scoring four points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks in 18 minutes of action.
