Liverpool are set to finalize the transfer of Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz after activating his €40m (£34.5m) release clause, Yankee Scores reports.
Muñoz is part of Spain’s World Cup squad.
His medical examination took place yesterday, with Liverpool sending representatives to the United States, per BBC Sport.
Muñoz, who recently made his international debut in March, can play on both wings, and Liverpool are ready to sign him up for six years. The fee will be paid by the Reds in two installments.
Newcastle, whose main winger, Anthony Gordon, was sold to Barcelona, were in talks with Muñoz too; however, Liverpool managed to sign him up.
This summer, he scored seven goals and gave five assists for Osasuna in 36 matches.
If the deal materializes, Muñoz becomes the first signing since the appointment of Andoni Iraola as Liverpool’s new head coach this month.
When Muñoz’s link-up with Newcastle was rumored, La Liga expert Phil Minshull called the youngster “one of the pearls of Spanish football,” describing him as a player with excellent work rate in attack and defense.
Previously, Muñoz played for Barcelona in their youth setup before moving to Real Madrid in January 2021 when he made two substitute appearances. After that, he joined Osasuna in July 2025 in a €5m transfer.
Real Madrid retained 50% sell-on clause and matching rights for Muñoz, but they decided not to bring him back due to the lack of game time under José Mourinho’s management.
Earlier, Barcelona also considered Muñoz’s signing before they sealed the deal for Gordon for more than £69m.
