An uncompromising transfer rejection has sent shockwaves through the top flight’s boardrooms, Yankee Scores reports.
Newcastle United have turned down a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi was a long-time admirer of Tonali and the club were exploring the finances of a deal for the 26-year-old Italian, BBC Sport reported earlier this month.
But Newcastle have turned down their opening bid and are in a strong position to demand a higher fee closer to £100m with Manchester City and Arsenal monitoring the situation.
Newcastle have already sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona but the club’s chief executive David Hopkinson has previously said that they will only trade players on “our terms”.
Tonali, who penned a new deal during his 10-month betting ban to repay the faith the club showed in him, is effectively contracted until 2030.
The current market may also work in Newcastle’s favor if a bidding war develops, given the valuations of midfielders elsewhere.
Andy Robertson Joins Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur must have learnt their lessons last season when they escaped relegation by a whisker.
This time around, the club hierarchy is more interested in meeting the demands of Roberto De Zerbi. The Tonali’s bid comes after the signing of Scotland full-back legend Andy Robertson, who joined as a free agent.
Robertson will join the London-based team on July 1 when he finishes off his contract at Liverpool.
