Bayern Munich have officially pulled out of the race, leaving Barca to secure the biggest signing of the summer before the World Cup even begins, Yankee Scores reports…
Anthony Gordon is undergoing a medical at Barcelona today after a deal was reached between the Spanish side and Newcastle United
Yankee Scores had reported that his transfer fee has been set at £69.3 million (€80 million) and includes add-ons.
Bayern Cool Interest
Reports from Sky Germany stated that Bayern Munich will not make any other bids for the Englishman, as their interest seems to have cooled off with Barcelona audacious bid.
Bayern Munich expressed interest in recruiting Gordon for a front three comprising Harry Kane, alongside Premier League transfers Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
Newcastle’s Trade Gets Bigger
Gordon becomes the second most expensive departure from Newcastle behind Alexander Isak who fetched them a whopping £125 million last year.
In addition, he was the highest goalscorer for Newcastle with 17 goals. He signed a long-term deal with the Magpies in October 2024, which will end four years from now.
In the last four games of the season, Gordon did not feature as he had to be protected for the upcoming transfer.
Newcastle fans chanted his name during their last game against Fulham.
Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson had hinted beginning of the season that some players would leave for the right price to fund their huge summer spending spree.
Barca Swoop Early
While other teams would rather wait to sign players after the World Cup, Barcelona have swooped in for their first massive signing of the summer before the World Cup kicks off.
It is still unclear if the Spanish giants would sign Marcus Rashford permanently from Manchester United. Rashford is enjoying his time at Barca but Manchester United would not let go for anything less than £30m.
