North London was reeking with disappointment following the 2-1 loss by Arsenal to Bournemouth, but the real story did not lie in the match result—it was revealed in the post-game interviews. Yankee Scores reports.

Gyokeres Opens the Lid

Viktor Gyokeres believes that the “dry pitch’ at the Emirates Stadium disrupted the flow of the game for Arsenal and played a role in their 2-1 loss to Bournemouth.

Match report: Bournemouth’s Emirates Ambush

Junior Kroupi scored a well-deserved goal for Bournemouth in the 17th minute. Viktor Gyokeres then levelled matters for Arsenal in the 35th minute by converting a penalty kick.

To try to change things, Arteta introduced Eberechi Eze, Max Dowman, and Leandro Trossard. However, it was Bournemouth that seemed to be more likely to score. That came true thanks to Alex Scott in the 74th minute, allowing Bournemouth to get another victory at the Emirates Stadium.

“Second Again”: The Echoes of Past Failures

Some Arsenal faithful chanted “second again”. This came from the opposite end at the match’s final whistle. That dreaded scenario might come true due to this subpar performance of the Gunners since they have ended up second for the last three campaigns.

Gyokeres Statement

“The pitch was maybe a bit dry to be honest. so that didn’t help.” he said after game.

“We had some okay chances in the end. We all need to do better and take our chances. We don’t need to get stuck because of what happened. We have to think positive and look forward to the games” Gyokeres concluded.

The title race may be open but still remain in Arsenal’s hands. Manchester City does have a chance given the game between the two next weekend.
