Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 for £81.5m, scoring 49 goals in 106 games for Diego Simeone’s side and providing 17 assists.
The ex-River Plate forward, who scored 17 goals in his first season in La Liga, managed only eight in 2025-26.
But he was prolific in the Champions League, finding the net ten times as Atletico reached the semi-finals before being beaten by Arsenal.
