Colombia moved to the top of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K after a thrilling 0-0 tie with Portugal at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Yankee Scores reports.

A Decider For The Group Phase

Both teams had already qualified for the Round of 32 before the encounter, although first place was up for grabs.

Colombia started the game with six points, Portugal with four, meaning a draw was all Los Cafeteros needed to claim top spot. Portugal, in contrast, had to win.

Colombia Dominate

Colombia was dominant from the opening whistle. In the first minute, Luis Diaz sent in a cross from the left wing, beating Joao Cancelo, and Jhon Cordoba headed barely over the crossbar.

Cordoba came near again in the 17th minute, shaking off Bruno Fernandes before unleashing a low effort which Diogo Costa had to make an important save.

Portugal responded following the refreshment break, with Bruno Fernandes getting closest to scoring when he drew a good reflex stop from Colombia keeper Camilo Vargas.

The second half was end-to-end, with both teams creating chances in the Miami heat but unable to find the final blow.

Sanchez Heartbreak

Colombia might have won it late on when Davinson Sanchez’s goal was chalked off for offside on the field.

VAR investigated and confirmed, with the replays proving his toe was offside.

Portugal could have stolen it at the last too but Rafael Leao poked wide in what would have been a cruel loss for Colombia.

It will be remembered as one of the best goalless draws in tournament history and the first time Colombia have failed to score in a World Cup match, according to Sky Sports
