The World Cup final on Sunday will feature a half-time break of between 20 and 25 minutes, Yankee Scores reports.
There will be an 11-minute Super Bowl-style show during the interval at New York New Jersey Stadium, with Madonna, Shakira and K-pop boy band BTS.
Fifa, the World Cup’s organisers, have said the interval will last about 20 minutes but it is thought one option would be to have the normal 15-minute half-time break followed by the proposed 11-minute show, per BBC Sports.
“Not more than 15 minutes,” say the laws of the game, administered by Ifab (the International Football Association Board), to which players are entitled at half time.
Last year’s Club World Cup final, also put on by Fifa, took place in New Jersey and included a 24-minute half-time show with Coldplay, J Balvin, Doja Cat, Tems and Emmanuel Kelly.
Singer Chris Martin curated the show, which also features headliners Justin Bieber — who was added to the bill last week — as well as Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus and Coldplay.
The World Cup final will kick off at 15:00 local time (20:00 BST) and there will be a closing ceremony from 13:30 local time (18:30 BST).
Performances by Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and IShowSpeed will take place during the ceremony, while Jennifer Hudson will sing the US national anthem.
Spain booked their place in the final after defeating France 2-0 in Tuesday’s first semi-final in Dallas.
They will play either England or Argentina, who meet in Atlanta on Wednesday (20:00 BST).
