World number three Carlos Alcaraz is set To Play In Next Month’s Cincinnati Open As He Moves Closer To Return From His Wrist Injury, Yankee Scores reports.
The seven-time Grand Slam Champion has not played any tournament on the tour since April when he got injured during his participation at the Barcelona Open.
As a result, he has been forced to withdraw from French Open and Wimbledon tournaments where he would have the chance of defending his Roland Garros title.
Alcaraz will not play at the Montreal-based Canadian Open, another Masters tournament scheduled for 2-13 August, per BBC Sport.
However, he is set to play in the Cincinnati Open, yet another Masters tournament that will take place between 13-23 August.
The 23-year-old hopes that his performance in Cincinnati will serve as preparation ahead of the US Open where he is the reigning champion.
Last year, Alcaraz became the winner of the Cincinnati Open because his rival Jannik Sinner had to retire due to illness.
Sinner has won all five Masters 1,000 titles so far this year and he is among the participants of Montreal as he successfully defended his Wimbledon title.
