New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is not likely to be placed on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp, Yankee Scores reports
This is a big step in his recovery from a catastrophic knee injury he suffered last season

The Giants on Thursday officially published their PUP list and Nabers was not on it, per ESPN
Three players did make the list: defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris and Sam Roberts, and tight end Thomas Fidone II.
Veteran receiver Darius Slayton, who also missed time in the offseason, wasn’t designated.
The Road Back From Injury
Nabers injured his ACL and then damaged his meniscus in Week 4 of last season, in a win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Surgery to repair the ACL and meniscus was followed by a cleaning procedure this spring, leading to worries about whether he’d be ready for training camp at all.
But just avoiding the PUP list doesn’t mean Nabers will be back on the practice field immediately.
The Giants are expected to slowly work him back into camp develops and coach John Harbaugh hasn’t put a timetable on when he will return to the field.
Harbaugh did strike an upbeat tone recently, saying there’s “a lot of optimism” around both Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo, who is also working back from a season-ending injury.
What It Means For Week 1
The difference matters most in Week 1. Had Nabers started camp on the PUP list and never been activated from it throughout the preseason, he would have been forced to miss the first four regular-season games.
With that scenario out of the way, there is a realistic possibility he could play when the Giants open the season on Sunday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.
New York’s rookies and quarterbacks reported on Thursday, with veterans due to report on Tuesday before the club flies to West Virginia for the start of camp.
