Kevin Durant passed Michael Jordan as the 5th all time scorer

Kevin Durant has climbed past Michael Jordan in the NBA scoring charts, but the veteran forward insists his journey is far from over, Yankee Scores reports.

A Historic Night in Houston

On Saturday evening, Durant scored 27 points in the Houston Rockets’ dramatic 123–122 win over the Miami Heat. With two clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter, the 37-year-old moved his career tally to 32,294 points, overtaking Jordan’s 32,292. The crowd erupted as Durant briefly raised his arms in celebration.

Asked about his feelings toward Jordan, Durant replied: “No. That’s like asking me do I got a favorite Drake song. No, they’re just all great. MJ has so many great moments. He just personifies iconic god level – just everything that I believe in, he personifies.”

Rockets Celebrate the Milestone

The Rockets marked the achievement with a tribute video featuring highlights of both Durant and Jordan. Coach Ime Udoka praised the moment: “Passing Michael Jordan is obviously a huge accomplishment and we celebrated that with him.”

Durant’s teammate Amen Thompson, who tipped in the game-winning basket, was in awe: “That’s legendary. Just being on a team with greatness like that, it’s inspiring, for sure.”

Durant’s Legacy and Next Target

Durant has already surpassed Wilt Chamberlain and Dirk Nowitzki this season. Next on the list is Kobe Bryant, who sits fourth with 33,643 points. Durant, a 16-time All-Star, two-time NBA champion, and 2014 MVP, remains focused on the bigger picture: “It’s cool, but it’s hard to take in when you’re still on the journey, when you just care about getting better.”

Looking Ahead

Now in his 19th season, and his first with Houston after a blockbuster trade from Phoenix, Durant continues to chase history. With LeBron James, Karl Malone, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar still ahead, the veteran forward has his eyes set firmly on climbing higher.
