Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies lit up the night with a barrage of threes, but the ending wasn’t nearly as sweet as the shooting display. Yankee Scores reports.

A Historic Shooting Night

Memphis matched the NBA’s single-game record with 29 made 3-pointers, a feat previously shared by the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics. Yet, despite the fireworks from beyond the arc, the Grizzlies still fell 142-126 to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nine different Grizzlies connected from deep, showing how even a roster patched together with 10-day contracts can catch fire. Adama Bal and Dariq Whitehead each drilled six triples, Lucas Williamson added five, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper went 4-for-5.

Records Don’t Always Mean Wins

The Grizzlies shot an impressive 49.2% from three, but their struggles inside the arc and on defense told the other side of the story. Cleveland countered with balanced scoring and 12 threes of their own, proving that efficiency and execution matter more than sheer volume.

Memphis coach Tuomas Iisalo praised his team’s effort, noting the pride in tying the record even without securing the win. “Guys wanted to go for it in the end, and we were all for it,” he said.

The Bigger Picture

This loss marked Memphis’ 18th defeat in their last 20 games, underscoring the challenges of a team relying heavily on short-term contracts and developmental players. While the shooting display was historic, it highlighted the gap between spectacular moments and sustained success.

The Cavaliers, led by coach Kenny Atkinson, acknowledged the Grizzlies’ performance but walked away with the victory that truly mattered.

Final Thoughts

Memphis may not have broken the record outright, but tying it with a roster of grinders and hopefuls is a reminder of the NBA’s unpredictability. Sometimes, the most unlikely groups deliver the most unforgettable nights, even if the scoreboard doesn’t favor them.
