No Embiid for Game 2: 76ers Faces Knicks Without the MVP

Joel Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers will have to battle the New York Knicks without their superstar. Joel Embiid has officially been ruled out for Game 2, leaving fans anxious about how the team will respond in his absence. Yankee Scores reports.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without Joel Embiid for Game 2 against the New York Knicks.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Embiid is sidelined due to ankle and hip soreness. “Embiid was unable to participate in the team’s shootaround this morning after experiencing increased soreness in both his ankle and hip,” Charania said.

He was unable to participate in shootaround after experiencing increased discomfort, despite receiving around‑the‑clock treatment. The former MVP’s status for Game 3 remains uncertain.

Sixers Adjust Without Their Leader

Head coach Nick Nurse has experience managing games without Embiid, and the roster has stepped up before.

Tyrese Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe powered Philadelphia to a big win against Boston earlier in the playoffs, showing the team can rally when their star is unavailable. Maybe they’ll replicate similar performance at Madison Square Garden.

Criticism and Pressure

Embiid’s struggles in Game 1, where he shot just 3‑of‑11 for 14 points, drew criticism from former New York Giants running back and WFAN host Tiki Barber.

Barber questioned Embiid’s decision to discuss his injuries publicly, saying, “If it’s gonna hurt, to physically be hurt, and someone might run into you, accidentally or otherwise, don’t play. I remember when I had a broken arm in 2000? I had to tape my other arm because they were literally stepping on it, knowing I had a broken arm. I didn’t complain about it. It’s part of the risk of playing hurt. So, stop being a b—-.” Embiid has not responded, focusing instead on recovery.

What’s Next

The Sixers now face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden without their MVP. While Embiid’s absence is a major blow, Philadelphia hopes its supporting cast can rise to the occasion.
