Jenkins defended by Austin Reaves in Pistons win over LA Lakers

The Detroit Pistons pulled off a stunning upset at home, ending the Los Angeles Lakers’ nine-game winning streak with a clutch finish that had fans on edge until the final buzzer, Yankee Scores reports.

Jenkins Delivers Career Night

Daniss Jenkins was the hero, scoring a career-high 30 points and sealing the win with four clutch points in the final 25 seconds. He also dished out eight assists, proving he could handle the spotlight. “I just wanted to stay aggressive,” Jenkins said after the game, and his confidence carried Detroit to its fourth straight victory.

Pistons Rally Without Cunningham

Detroit’s win was even more impressive given the absence of All-Star Cade Cunningham, who missed his third consecutive game after being diagnosed with a collapsed lung last week. Jalen Duren stepped up with 20 points and 11 rebounds, showing the Pistons’ depth and resilience.

Lakers’ Stars Fall Short

Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 32 points, while Austin Reaves added 24. Deandre Ayton contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds, and LeBron James nearly posted a triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Tonight was just the third time in LeBron’s career, and the first in over 15 years that he went scoreless in the first half of an NBA game. He’s scored 5 points in the second half in Detroit, in addition to his team-best 9 assists for the game, helping the Lakers cut their deficit to 85-79 late in the 3Q. Doncic, cleared to play after his 16th technical foul was rescinded, had a chance to tie the game but airballed a contested three at the buzzer.

What It Means

The Pistons’ victory snapped the Lakers’ momentum and highlighted Detroit’s ability to compete even without their star guard. For Los Angeles, the loss was a reminder that even hot streaks can end abruptly when opponents rise to the occasion.
