DiVicenzo and Anthony edwards with injuries in Timberwolves game 4 win

Minnesota celebrated a crucial playoff victory, yet the night carried heartbreak. Two starting guards went down, leaving the Timberwolves with more questions than answers despite a commanding series lead. Yankee Scores reports.

Dosunmu’s Heroics

Ayu Dosunmu delivered the performance of his career, scoring 43 points to lift Minnesota past Denver 3‑1 in the Western Conference quarterfinals. His relentless scoring kept the Timberwolves afloat after losing Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo to leg injuries.

Edwards and DiVincenzo Go Down

Edwards exited late in the first half after his left knee buckled on a defensive play. DiVincenzo was lost just 79 seconds into the game with an Achilles injury, later leaving the arena in a wheelchair. Coach Chris Finch admitted the emotional toll was heavy, calling the losses “devastating.”

DiVincenzo appeared to have injured his leg while chasing the ball down in the first 1 minute, 19 seconds of the game. He called out to the bench to help him up, as he was wheeled out of the arena.

Impact on the Series

Edwards had averaged 23 points and eight rebounds in the series, while DiVincenzo was shooting 50% from deep through three games. Their absence leaves Minnesota’s rotation thin as the sixth seed pushes for an upset over the Denver Nuggets.

Emotional Response

Dosunmu dedicated his performance to his injured teammates, saying the win was “for Ant and Donte.” The Timberwolves rallied around that sentiment, outlasting Denver despite the adversity.

What’s Next

Minnesota now holds a 3‑1 lead with Game 5 set in Denver. The Timberwolves are one win away from advancing, but the health of Edwards and the loss of DiVincenzo loom large over their playoff hopes.
