With a 2-0 lead and a perfect 6-0 playoff record, OKC looks unstoppable; Yankee Scores reports.

Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander each scored 22 points, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Lakers 125-107 on Thursday night to go up 2-0 in the Western Conference semifinals.

Ajay Mitchell chipped in with 20 points and Jaren McCain 18 for the defending champions, who improved to 6-0 in the playoffs. Game 3 will be held in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Lakers’ Injury and Roster Woes

Los Angeles was again without its leading scorer Luka Doncic, who is unavailable indefinitely due to a strain in his left hamstring. Jarred Vanderbilt, a forward off the bench, also missed after he dislocated his right pinkie finger in the second quarter of Game 1. Three other Lakers players fouled out in Game 2.

Reaves, who shot an abysmal 2-for-16 in Game 1, scored 31 points on 10-for-16 shooting in Game 2. LeBron James followed up his 27 points in Game 1 with 23 more.

Near the start of the third, when L.A. was leading 63-61, Gilgeous-Alexander ran into Reaves, picking up his fourth foul. A review showed that it was a flagrant 1 for Gilgeous-Alexander, whose follow-through led to the contact. Meanwhile, the official called a technical foul on Oklahoma City’s Alex Caruso.

Thunder Surge Despite SGA Foul Trouble

Gilgeous-Alexander was forced to leave the game at 65-61. Without him, Oklahoma City took control of the game. On a fast break, Holmgren found Jaylin Williams streaking down the lane. Williams hit a three-pointer while being fouled, giving Oklahoma City a 85-74 advantage.

In the third quarter without Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City scored 32 points compared to only 15 by the Lakers. Oklahoma City turned around a six-point deficit going into the period to a 93-80 lead entering the fourth quarter.
