Rory McIlroy Masters glory continues at Augusta, and the golf world is buzzing about what comes next. His latest win has fans and legends alike debating how many more majors he can capture.… Yankee Scores reports.
Back-to-Back Masters Titles
McIlroy became only the fourth player in history to win the Masters two years in a row, joining Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in elite company. He also completed the career Grand Slam, a feat that took him 11 years to achieve.
Reflecting on the challenge, McIlroy admitted, “I thought it was so difficult to win last year because of trying to win the Masters and the Grand Slam. And then this year I realized it’s just really difficult to win the Masters.”
A New Perspective
After last year’s triumph, McIlroy struggled with motivation, but this time he feels different. “I felt like the Grand Slam was the destination, and I realized it wasn’t,” he said after edging Scottie Scheffler by one shot. “I just won my sixth major, and I feel like I’m in a really good spot with my game and my body.”
“You’re the most wonderful parents. And if I can be half the parent to Poppy that you were to me then I know I’ve done a good job.”

Chasing History
McIlroy now has six majors, tying Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, and Phil Mickelson. Padraig Harrington once suggested he could challenge Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors, while Fred Couples recently said, “Rory may never lose this thing again… he really could win five more of these.”
McIlroy himself knows it won’t be easy. “No, it’s just hard. It’s hard to win golf tournaments, especially around here,” he explained.

Augusta Drama
His latest win wasn’t straightforward. McIlroy lost leads on both Saturday and Sunday, battled back against Cameron Young and Justin Rose, and held off Scheffler’s steady charge. A nervy wedge on 15 and a clutch up-and-down on 17 proved decisive.
The victory ended with joy rather than relief, especially with his parents present this time.
Looking Ahead
McIlroy plans to use his Augusta preparation blueprint for future majors, noting advice from Jack Nicklaus about simulating tournaments. With the PGA Championship looming on May 15, McIlroy insists this win is “part of the journey” rather than the destination.
