Luka Doncic screaming after making 51 points for LA Lakers

Luka Doncic lit up the court once again, guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a hard-fought win that keeps their momentum alive in the Western Conference race, Yankee Scores reports.

The Lakers edged the Houston Rockets 100-92 in a tense contest that featured 13 lead changes and a playoff atmosphere. Doncic scored 36 points, marking his sixth straight game with 30 or more, while also hitting back-to-back 3-pointers late in the third quarter to swing momentum. He went 14-for-27 from the field, falling just short of his 12th 40-point outing this season.

LeBron James added 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists, including a crucial pass to Marcus Smart for a corner 3-pointer that put Los Angeles ahead 94-90 with two minutes left.

Rockets Falter Under Pressure

Houston struggled with turnovers, committing 24 compared to just 12 for the Lakers. Jabari Smith Jr. led the Rockets with 22 points, while Amen Thompson scored 19 and Kevin Durant chipped in 18. Missing Alperen Sengun due to lower back pain, the Rockets lacked their usual offensive balance. Sengun, averaging 20.2 points, is second only to Durant in team scoring.

Despite their efforts, the Rockets couldn’t match the Lakers’ composure down the stretch. The loss dropped them 1 ½ games behind Los Angeles in the standings.

Momentum Shifts Define the Contest

The Rockets led 57-51 at halftime, but Doncic’s third-quarter surge gave the Lakers an 83-80 edge heading into the final period. From there, Los Angeles tightened defensively and capitalized on Houston’s mistakes to secure their sixth consecutive victory.

James reflected on the team’s resilience: “We stayed locked in when it mattered most. That’s what playoff basketball is about.”

What Next for Both Teams

The Lakers and Rockets will meet again in Houston on Wednesday, with both sides aware of the stakes in the Western Conference playoff race. For Los Angeles, it’s a chance to extend their winning streak further, while Houston will be desperate to respond and avoid slipping further behind.
