Ayo Dosunmu

The Minnesota Timberwolves will get a major boost in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series. Guard Ayo Dosunmu has officially been cleared to return against the San Antonio Spurs after missing two straight games with a calf injury. Yankee Scores reports.

The Minnesota Timberwolves go to Game 2 with an advantage, leading the Western Conference semifinal series against San Antonio Spurs 1-0.

Regardless, they are still navigating multiple injuries. That includes the guard Ayo Dosunmu and key player Anthony Edwards. Dosunmu missed the series opener, while Edwards came off the bench to lead Minnesota to a win on Monday.

Dosunmu’s Return

Dosunmu sat out the series opener and Minnesota’s Game 6 win over Denver due to right calf soreness. On Wednesday, the Timberwolves confirmed he will be available for Game 2, ending his brief injury layoff. His return comes at a crucial time as Minnesota looks to build on its 1‑0 series lead.

Impact on the Wolves

Before the injury, Dosunmu was one of Minnesota’s most efficient scorers in the postseason. He averaged 21.8 points per game on 60.9% shooting, including a blistering 54.5% from three. His highlight performance came in Game 4 against Denver, when he erupted for 43 points. With Donte DiVincenzo sidelined for the year, Dosunmu’s presence is vital to the Wolves’ rotation.

Edwards and Supporting Cast

Anthony Edwards made his own return in Game 1, scoring 18 points off the bench in 25 minutes. Terrence Shannon Jr. stepped up in Dosunmu’s absence, averaging 14.5 points across two playoff starts. With both Edwards and Dosunmu now available, Minnesota’s backcourt depth looks far stronger heading into Game 2.

What’s Next

The Timberwolves edged the Spurs 104‑102 in Game 1, but San Antonio showed resilience behind Victor Wembanyama’s triple‑double. With Dosunmu back, Minnesota hopes to seize control of the series before heading home. Tipoff for Game 2 is set for 9:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
